Role Summary
The Account Manager (AM) is a field-based commercial leader responsible for driving demand, accelerating patient identification, and ensuring optimal treatment for patients eligible for Galafold® and Pombiliti Opfolda across Southern California. The Account Manager will have direct responsibility representing BioMarin products to medical professionals who specialize in the treatment of Fabry and Pompe disease
This role operates at the forefront of BioMarin’s go-to-market strategy for rare diseases, serving as the primary point of engagement with healthcare providers (HCPs) and key accounts. The AM translates brand and franchise strategy into territory-level execution, delivering strong business performance while maintaining a deep commitment to patient impact.
As part of the U.S. Enzyme Therapies (ET) commercial organization, the AM partners closely with Clinical Coordinators, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Marketing to deliver an integrated customer experience and maximize outcomes across the treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities
Territory Strategy & Execution
• Develop and execute a comprehensive territory business plan aligned with brand strategy and franchise priorities
• Drive demand generation across target HCP segments (e.g., geneticists, cardiologists, neurologists, metabolic specialists)
• Prioritize accounts using data-driven insights to optimize impact
• Deliver against sales objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) for both Galafold and Pombiliti Opfolda
Customer Engagement & Account Management
• Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key customers and accounts
• Deliver high-quality, compliant product education aligned with approved messaging
• Engage customers across the patient journey, including diagnosis, treatment initiation, and long-term management
• Identify and address barriers to treatment, partnering cross-functionally to resolve access and operational challenges
Patient Identification & Market Development
• Drive initiatives to improve diagnosis and patient finding in Fabry and Pompe diseases
• Collaborate with stakeholders to expand awareness of disease and treatment options
• Support efforts to enhance cascade screening, referral pathways, and diagnostic rates
• Leverage digital tools to reinforce customer engagement and education
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner closely with:
- Clinical Coordinators (CCs): to support patient onboarding and continuity of care
- Market Access: to navigate reimbursement and access challenges
- Medical Affairs: to ensure scientific alignment and appropriate customer engagement
- Marketing: to provide field insights and execute brand tactics locally
• Analyze territory performance and market dynamics to identify opportunities and risks
• Provide actionable field insights to inform brand strategy, messaging, and resource allocation
• Maintain accurate records and forecasts using CRM systems and reporting tools

Qualifications & Experience
Required
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 5+ years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or rare disease sales experience
• Proven track record of driving sales performance and achieving results in complex markets
• Strong account management and territory planning capabilities
• Experience engaging with specialty HCPs and navigating complex treatment pathways
Preferred
• Experience in rare disease, specialty biologics, or enzyme therapies
• Prior experience in Fabry disease, Pompe disease, or related therapeutic areas
• Demonstrated ability to drive patient finding and market development initiatives
• Experience working in highly cross-functional, matrixed organizations
